Frequently Ask Questions

" I heard a rumor that Kayaker changed ownership. Is this true?"

You are absolutly correct! From 13 August 2001, ownership of Kayaker has changed from Asia Pacific Kayaks Pty Ltd to EBS Marine Pty Ltd. We have rebuilt our web site to give you ease of access to all our products. It is "business as usual"

" How long will it take for me to be one the water after I place an order with Kayaker?"

Since Feathercraft and Nautiraid do not keep stock, kayaks are manufactured only when ordered. Generally, both manufacturers require 2-3 weeks to produce a kayak although this may vary from time to time. Airfreight to Sydney usually takes between 3-5 days.

" How do we organise payment?"

Here at Kayaker we decided to go against an online store approach. We want to give each customer the personal attention they deserve. Click here find out more about purchasing. In regards to payment a 20% non-refundable deposit is required at time of placing order with the balance payable at the time the kayak is ready for shipment to Sydney.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, American Express, Diners, Visa, Mastercard, Bankcard and telegraphic transfer.

For orders which require the kayak to be delivered directly to a foreign country, payment can only be made by telegraphic transfer.

As we consider our pricing policy fair & reasonable, prices as detailed are not negotiable.

You may find the Feathercraft pricing expensive but according to "Paddler" (USA) magazine in its "2001 Buyers Guide", the recommended selling price for the K1 Expedition in the USA is $4,125.00 United States dollars which is approximately $7,932.00 Australian dollars. Kayaker retails the K1 Expedition for $6,723.00 Australian dollars. How's that for value?

If you wish to convert Australian Dollars to your domestic currency, click here.

" What about freight and insurance?"

Our pricing includes freight and insurance from Canada / France to Sydney. The insurance covers loss, theft or damage during transit.

If the ultimate delivery destination is outside of Sydney, we can arrange additional freight / insurance at reasonable rates. This additional freight / insurance is payable by the purchaser and is not included in our pricing.

Insurance after you get it home is also possible. If you are living in Australia, we have been informed that the NRMA will insure any Kayak over the phone. It is around a 4.1% premium depending on where you live. For more details contact your insurer.

" Do the kayaks have a warranty?"

Feathercraft and Nautiraid folding kayaks come standard with a warranty on parts and workmanship for the following periods:

Feathercraft - Two (2) years.

Nautiraid - One (1) year.

" The pictures look great but I would like to take a kayak for a test paddle. Is this possible?"

Although we do not keep a full range of kayaks in stock, test paddling is available for any models which we have at our disposal.

"Is it possible for me to speak with one of your clients that already has a feathercraft, sort of like a referee?"

Sure! We would be more than happy to give you some names and numbers of active Feathercraft owners who might be able to answer more of your questions , just drop us a line. We will ask their permission and supply you with the relevant details.
